First revealed by Ferrari in 1980, Maranello engineers revamped the Mondial with four design overhauls during its 13-year production run. The final iteration—badged as the “Mondial t”, with the “t” added in homage to its new transverse gearbox layout—brought many changes compared to earlier models. The revised model broke cover in 1988, wearing a more muscular and robust aesthetic thanks to a redesigned front profile together with wider front and rear wings.

Appearances aside, the Mondial t was the most potent version of the car yet. While the earlier 8, QV, and 3.2 forms of the Mondial featured a transverse-mounted engine, the chassis of the Mondial t was revised to accept a mid-mounted, longitudinally positioned 3.4-litre V-8 paired with a five-speed transverse gearbox—a layout inspired by contemporary Scuderia Ferrari racing machines campaigned in Formula 1. The new configuration allowed the drivetrain to be positioned 13 centimetres lower, with Ferrari claiming significant benefits in road holding and handling, while its official output was rated at 300 horsepower.

Representing the most radical evolution in the lifecycle of the model, the Mondial t Coupé offered here was delivered new to The Factory Fresh Collection as one of 45 units to leave the Ferrari factory configured in right-hand drive. Finished in red over a cream leather interior, the car has been kept in storage since delivery to its first owner. The car is accompanied by a leather folio containing selected Ferrari books and manuals, while according to factory data the Ferrari retains its matching-numbers engine.

With the popularity of the Mondial rising in line with other coveted Ferrari stablemates from the 1980s and 1990s, the Mondial t represents a fun and accessible jumping-on point for Prancing Horse ownership. The opportunity to acquire a car “as good as new” offers bidders hope of rekindling the excitement that the Mondial once delivered in its heyday.
