Inspired by the Mustang “Shorty” fastback factory prototype concept of a true two-seater Mustang (and successfully sold at our 2015 Ft. Lauderdale sale); this 1965 Mustang has been shortened by approximately 14-inches 15 years ago and was transformed as a roadster version of the famous “Shorty” fastback.

The platform was western based, coming from New Mexico. The owner conveys that “there is absolutely no rust on the car” allowing the fabrication needed for shortening the wheelbase to go extremely smoothly; resulting in the body having ”no sag.” The Mustang has also been finished in a manner that displays Shelby characteristics, from the racing (over the top) and Le Mans (lower body) stripes to Cobra valve covers, Shelby floor mats and Shelby centers on styled steel wheels.

The “Shorty” roadster re-creation runs with a 302-cid V-8 engine that has a Holman-Moody intake, it is matched with a five-speed manual transmission with a Ford nine-inch rear end with posi-traction and 3.70:1 gearing. Four-wheel power disc brakes are also fitted to the car. Other features include hood pins, rollbar, bucket seats, center console, wood-rimmed steering wheel, two-toned seats, steering column-mounted tach and woodgrain dash detail. The paint is newly applied and the interior has been freshened with "pony" seats.
