In motor racing, a win or podium finish is often immortalized with the reward of a trophy but to foster and create the enthusiasm leading up to the race and attract the masses of racing enthusiasts and fans to witness many of the world’s greatest historic motoring races, it was often the beautifully executed imagery that drove people to the tracks. Often a work of art in itself, historic motor racing posters manage to capture the very spirit of each race, venue, marques and their respective drivers best. What better way to celebrate heritage of motor racing then through this outstanding offering of nearly 60 original posters and artwork, all offered without reserve.
The auction will open for bidding at 1:00 p.m. EST on 18 February, with the first lots closing at 4:00 p.m. EST on 28 February. Each lot was inspected in RM Sotheby’s care and will be collected by all successful bidders from RM Sotheby’s Auburn, Indiana offices, or shipping arrangements can be made via third parties to have the item(s) picked up from Auburn. The auction is governed by RM’s Bidders’ Terms and Conditions and we further encourage all interested participants to review the “How to Bid” section available on each lot page for further information.
Additionally, the following requirements apply to this auction…
• Buyer’s premium: A buyer’s premium of 20% applies to the purchase of each lot.
• Sales Tax: Unless the purchaser is exempt by law from the payment thereof, any residents of Arizona, California, Florida, Indiana, Michigan, New York, or Pennsylvania must pay applicable sales tax. Other state or local taxes (or compensation use taxes) may apply. Sales tax will be automatically added to the invoice unless a valid resale number has been furnished or the property is shipped via common carrier to destinations outside the states listed above.
• Credit Card Authorizations and Automatic Charges for Winning Bids up to $5,000. Please note that for any purchases under $5,000 US, your credit card on file will automatically be used as the payment method for purchase of the lot and applicable Buyer’s Premium. Special payment arrangements can be made for multiple lot purchases, which you are welcome to discuss with an RM Sotheby’s representative upon completion of the auction.
• Shipping: successful buyers must make shipping arrangements from RM’s premises in Auburn, Indiana. RM is happy to furnish the contact details of an experienced, local shipping company to assist with these arrangements.
