In celebration of Maserati winning the FIA GT Manufacturers Cup in 2005, they announced that they were going to release a special limited edition Maserati GranSport model. Maserati was set to showcase this car at the Geneva Motor Show; and they announced that they would be making just 180 examples. This new model linked itself by way of features to the coveted MC12. The example offered here is finished with the same livery that an MC12 would be finished with.
Powering the Maserati is a 4.2-liter V-8 engine that is packed full of 400-hp and 333-lb/ft of torque. Transferring this power is a six-speed elctro-hydraulic gearbox that can be shifted by paddle shifters mounted behind the steering wheel. This gives the car a great sports car feel and a stellar personality.
This car’s interior is completely functionable and luxurious at the same time. The design of the blue leather seats with contrasting red stitching were influenced by Maserati test drivers who ensured the seats were comfortable for track days or long road trips. The exterior is finished in matching colors that would be seen on a Maserati MC12. The exterior is also accented with carbon fiber elements and beautiful chromed alloy wheels.
The car comes complete with the toolkit and air pump. This MC12-inspired GranSport is sure to be focus in any car collection.
