Fiberglass VW based dune buggies were the rage of the late ‘60s and early ‘70s. These recreational vehicles provided their owners with endless on and off-road enjoyment and still have a strong following today.
Legendary customizer George Barris capitalized on the buggy craze by offering distinctive fiberglass bodies that could be fitted on the shortened VW pans that most buggies were built on. Barris Kustom Industries licensed shops around the country to build Barris Buggies in several different body styles and any color the owner could imagine.
This Barris Buggy is in original condition and presents very well today. Its metallic blue flake paint gives the buggy a period look and it runs and drives excellently. This Buggy would be ideal for a collector looking for a well-preserved Barris design.
