Fiat used the 600 model for 15 years of production, and was the base drivetrain for many other models that would be produced, one of the models being the Multipla. A total of 2.7 million Fiat 600s were made, with fewer than 250,000 being Multiplas. Equipped with model 1100 coil, wishbone front suspension and four-wheel hydraulic brakes, it was capable of seating up to six people. The driver’s compartment was located over the front axle, which gave this particular car, what is considered today, a very minivan-like style.
Reported to be an authentic taxi, it is equipped with a front bench seat, separate folding seats located in the middle and a bench seat located in the back; the middle and back seats can be removed for flat storage room. The engine is a 633-cc inline four-cylinder engine with a four-speed manual transmission. This car was the recipient of an older restoration. During the restoration, attention to detail was a must to bring this taxi back to its former elegance. Many of the details include a taxi meter, and other correct to period components and what is said to be an authentic taxi light that is attached to the top of the vehicle. The exterior is finished in a two-tone black and green with chrome bumpers, emblems and window moldings; all drawing attention to this taxi. Included with the sale is a model car that is finished in the same colors. This Fiat would make a great addition to any car collection.
