The 1966 Chevrolet Caprice was built to be compared to any other elegant car of the period. They were described in advertising of the era as being “far and away, the most lavish Chevrolets ever built.” This black example has an optional black vinyl top, black interior and represents the first year that the Caprice was offered. This car has had the same owner for the last 22 years and is powered by a 283-cid V-8 engine that has been rebuilt (approximately 6,500 miles ago) with automatic transmission. Additionally the Caprice has period correct underdash air conditioning, “all new mechanicals,” Strato bucket seats, factory wire wheel covers with spinners; power steering and power brakes.

The Caprice is reported as a senior award winner with the Vintage Chevrolet Club of America, and it is said to run as good as it looks. The owner reports the Chevrolet being driven to Rapid City, South Dakota and returning to Michigan without issue.
