In 1993 Ferrari introduced a race-prepared version of its V-8 model for use in a new single-marque competition series dubbed the Ferrari Challenge. Ten years later the 360 Modena was transformed into a roadgoing race car called the Challenge Stradale, which substantially shaved weight through the removal of sound insulation and other creature comforts. The model was equipped with advanced mechanical elements like an F1-style paddle-shifted transaxle, uprated carbon ceramic brakes, and a retuned V-8 engine with higher compression and a resulting additional 25 horsepower (for a total 425 horsepower).

Ferrari ultimately built fewer than 1,300 examples of the prodigious 360-based Challenge Stradale, approximately 378 of which were specified for North America. The model was an instant classic with Maranello racing connoisseurs, offering the purest and fastest iteration of the already-dazzling 360 Modena.

Befitting of a competition bred sports car, the Challenge Stradale on offer wears a striking Rosso Scuderia exterior over a red/black Alcantara interior. Being a North American specification example, the vehicle lacks the Lexan windows fitted in other markets, but it does feature prominent Scuderia shields on the quarter panels, a hi-fi radio with CD player, carbon fiber mirrors, Rosso Scuderia brake calipers, and a fire extinguisher. Delivered new to Foreign Cars Italia of Charlotte, North Carolina, it is believed that this Challenge Stradale has had just 3 owners over the past 19 years.

The original owner is indicated to have registered the vehicle to South Dakota and would eventually part ways with the Ferrari in 2007. At this time, the car found its second owner in New Jersey. However, shortly thereafter it would find its third owner in 2008 and remain in Ohio until the summer of 2021. While within the care of the consignor, this Challenge Stradale has been treated to a thorough engine servicing completed in August 2021. Now indicating fewer than 4,450 miles since new, this striking and exceedingly well-presented example is accompanied by its original window sticker, a car cover, tool roll, and service invoices.

The Challenge Stradale offers Maranello enthusiasts a blisteringly fast track-ready 360 that can be equally admired or driven for casual fun. Ideal for display at FCA events, supercar Sundays, or local cars-and-coffee gatherings, examples with such low mileage and desirable factory specifications are becoming increasingly difficult to find. As such, this particular Challenge Stradale offering is unlikely to be replicated in the marketplace anytime soon.
