The Edsel wagon was always a great rarity compared to its sedan and coupe brethren. Such is the case of the 1959 model, the Villager, of which 5,687 were produced, and fewer than 50 examples are known to remain. The Shrine of the Holy Grille’s example was fully restored to a high professional standard in these striking, desirable factory-correct colors of President Red and Talisman Red, which combine with chrome hubcaps and blackwall tires to produce a truly distinctive appearance. Most special of all is under the hood, where can be found the most powerful available drivetrain combination, the 303-hp, 361-cu. in. Super Express V-8 and the rare three-speed manual transmission, as was installed during the restoration. The result is a potent family hauler, sure to impress, just as it impressed the AACA judges who awarded it a National First Prize in 2009.
