This very rare BN7 Mark II 3000 has received a complete body-off-frame restoration in which every attention to concours detail has been followed to properly represent this very desirable British classic.

According to the British Motor Industry Heritage Trust Certified Copy of a Factory Record (BMIHT), this particular example was built in May of 1961. It is reported to be one of only 355 BN7 two-seater, tri-carb, MKII roadsters to be built between the full production run of tri-carb carbs from April 1961 and March 1962. It was the last production of the two-seater roadsters and the rarest model produced, except for the limited production 100S. It is estimated that only 175 of these marvelous models still exist worldwide. It features triple SU-HS4 carburetors, new camshaft, timing chain damper, 9.0:1 compression ratio, 132 brake horsepower and radiator grille with vertical struts. The engine numbers started with the prefix 29E. The factory fitted equipment was wire wheels, heater, adjustable steering column, Roadspeed tires, laminated windscreen and overdrive gearing. This Austin-Healey was dispatched to the United States on July 13, 1961. The original Ivory White exterior, Red interior and Black top have been maintained in the restoration. It is reported that everything was replaced with new or rebuilt components as needed. The majority of these parts were purchased in England.

Period upgrades, such as a Derrington laminated wood steering wheel, rally vents in the front fenders, Aston gas cap and Austin-Healey wood shift-lever knob have been added. An all-new cloth main wiring harness and ancillary harnesses, rebuilt gauges, totally new front suspension, front hubs, rear hub adapters, completely new or rebuilt hydraulic brake and clutch components, rebuilt center shift transmission and new tunnel, reproduced new Lucas six-volt batteries (2), chrome Dunlop 60-spoke wheels with knock-offs and Michelin XAS 180HR15 Roadspeed tires are but a small sampling of the quality of the build with this car. A complete listing of the parts and processes are detailed; for this full listing, please call the associated Auctions America specialist. All receipts of this comprehensive build are available, as is a complete photo documentation book of the processes.

The BMIHT Certificate accompanies the car, and the Healey has been registered with the Tri-Carb Registry for 25 years as maintained by Bill Bolton. The car has been driven 500 miles since the restoration was completed to ensure proper performance and operation. To quote one notable writer; David Traver Adolphus at Hemmings Motor News, April 2006: “With its unbeatable combination of style, power and grace, the Austin-Healey 3000 MKII has little direct competition today. If you want top-down European motoring, in a substantial and energetic car; it’s one of your finest choices.”
