Series 50. 125 bhp, 322 cu. in. L-head V-8 engine, three-speed manual transmission, independent front suspension with unequal-length A-arms and coil springs, semi-floating rear axle, and four-wheel hydraulic drum brakes. Wheelbase: 120 in.

Cadillac’s “junior marque,” LaSalle, entered 1939 with freshened styling, including a new tall and narrow grille flanked by small side units, with additional ventilation panels on the sides of the hood. Running boards were now an optional feature, while the mechanical specifications were improved by a redesigned radiator core and suspension. The cars looked lighter and sportier and have gone down in history as one of the prettiest LaSalles, a marque that was only a year from its extinction. “Cadillac sincerely believes,” advertising bragged, “that no one can drive the new LaSalle and not wholeheartedly desire it.”

The convertible coupe offered here is accompanied by a copy of its build sheet, which notes that, importantly, the car retains its original engine and body. It was shipped on December 14, 1938, to the famous Scott Smith Cadillac Company of Philadelphia.

Part of its present owner’s collection for many years, this car was restored some years ago in the factory-correct color of Oxblood Maroon with a complementary tan leather interior with maroon carpets and tan cloth top. The car is equipped with chrome wheel covers, wide whitewall tires, a heater, and a front bumper guard, among other options and accessories. The trunk contains a correct full-size spare, in addition to plenty of room for additional parts and luggage for touring.

This would be a wonderful summer driver for a lucky Cadillac-LaSalle enthusiast.
