The car offered here, chassis no. 7883, is an exceptional example of Ferrari’s second production four-seat grand touring car. The 330 GT 2+2 was introduced in 1964 and was initially produced with a controversial twin-headlight design. By mid-1965, however, the Series II single-headlight redesign was introduced. The second series cars, such as the example offered here, proved popular both with original buyers and with collectors today. Powered by a 4.0-liter, 300-bhp variant of the Colombo V-12, the 330 GT 2+2 remains a comfortable yet capable grand touring machine.

According to a history compiled by marque historian Marcel Massini, 7883 was the 673rd 330 GT 2+2 produced. It was originally finished in Argento over a Bleu Connolly leather interior. The car was completed to European specifications and with Series II single headlights, Series 1 dashboard, power windows, and a five-speed gearbox. It was delivered to M. Gaston Crepaldi S.a.s. of Milan in December 1965. It was sold to its first owner, Roberto Sintene of Milan, on 14 January 1966 and was eventually registered on Milanese plates MI 88207. It is reported that, at a service completed in Modena on 17 November 1966, the car had covered 11,294 km. Chassis 7883 then passed through a series of documented owners, including Sr. Remo Fiorentini of Pisa and Benito Amabili, between 1968 and 1990.

Under Sr. Amabili’s ownership, the car was included in two very special Ferrari exhibitions. In June 1997, this car was shown at the Ferrari 50th Anniversary celebrations in Modena and Maranello. Some years later, between January and June 2004, 7883 was displayed at the Galleria Ferrari in Maranello as part of the special 2+2 exhibition for four-seater Ferraris. These important exhibitions add a level of provenance and historical significance not commonly seen with 330 GT 2+2s.

While under the care of its 13th documented owner, Cal. Car Business S.r.l. of Padova, Italy, the car was fully restored in 2015 by marque experts in Bologna. At that time, the car was repainted in its original metallic silver and was fitted with a new blue Connolly leather interior. New Borrani wire wheels and Michelin tires were also fitted. Today the car presents immaculately and performs magnificently, as only a proper V-12 Ferrari can.

Chassis 7883, with its superb restoration and documented ownership and exhibition history, is an outstanding opportunity to understand why the Ferrari 330 GT 2+2 is represented in many of the finest Ferrari collections worldwide. Included in the sale is an extensive documentation file, which contains original Italian paperwork, restoration receipts, and photos of the exhibitions.
