125 hp, 255 cu. in. flathead V-8 engine, three-speed automatic transmission, independent front suspension with coil springs and live rear axle suspension with leaf springs, and four-wheel hydraulic drum brakes. Wheelbase: 118 in.

This attractive 1953 Mercury wagon spent most of its life in Southern California. The VIN indicates that this Monterey was the 14th example produced in Los Angeles, on May 7, 1953. The data plate verifies the black exterior with lovely black and turquoise interior. Today, it remains as built with little modification, other than a 12-volt electrical system and an aftermarket AM/FM Mercury radio. The paint and interior are in quality condition with few blemishes to be found. The chrome and trim is all very presentable, with only the rear bumper needing replating. The engine bay is very tidy and proper, resulting in what is, overall, a high-quality driving example of a rare Mercury. The International Mercury Owner Association Registry has five listed, including this one. It is a fine investment-grade vehicle that is fun to drive, show, and enjoy.
