Amongst the hierarchy of Ferrari’s 308 GTB models, the earliest iterations are amongst the most desirable. Originally produced with fiberglass bodywork and carbureted engines, later models progressed to steel bodywork with fuel injection. Typical for Ferrari, there was a gradual transition between these specifications with some cars specified like the example here, sporting steel bodywork and a dry-sump engine fitted with four Weber 40 DCNF twin-choke carburettors.

Offered here today from single Italian ownership from new, this ‘carter-secco’ 308 GTB was delivered to its first owner in June of 1980 through Walter Bordese s.r.l. of Turin, Italy, according to its accompanying service book. Finished in Rosso over a Beige interior, it sports the same colour scheme today, having been exceptionally well preserved from new.

Furthermore, the car received Ferrari Classiche Certification in December of 2017, confirming that it presents today just as it left the factory when new. Still wearing its original Italian registration, it remained with its original owner until 2017 and has remained unregistered since. In 2017, it was serviced by Forza Service s.r.l. of Turin and more recently has been serviced by Rossacorsa. Furthermore, the 308 has been ASI homologated and is accompanied by its ASI gold plate.

It goes without saying that single-owner 308s are becoming a true rarity, and as such, this Classiche certified example warrants serious consideration.
