Following the acquisition of Girard-Perregaux by Luigi ‘Gino’ Macaluso, an Italian entrepreneur who had a strong passion for motorsport, including a career as a Fiat Works rally navigator, it was hardly surprising that a partnership was announced with Ferrari in 1994 to craft time pieces of the highest quality for the famed sports car manufacturer.
Girard-Perregaux produced several wristwatches for Ferrari over a ten-year period, but only one model of stopwatch. This example is no. 1 of less than 1,000 pieces produced. The Sport Timer has a lightweight titanium case which is 53 mm the diameter, with white numerals and hands set against a black dial. Accompanied by its original wooden presentation box, brown leather lanyard, and stamped documents, this Sport Timer would make for a fantastic piece in any Ferrari memorabilia collection or even for practical use at the racetrack, as intended.
