Celebrating its 70th anniversary in 2018, Porsche introduced the 991-generation 911 Speedster as what would be the pinnacle of desirability in the 911 platform. With only 1,948 examples produced, celebrating the year that Dr. Porsche built his first two-seat roadster in Austria, it followed the design of the 356, G-Series, 964, and 997 generation Speedsters before it, whilst matching its stunning looks with equally exceptional performance.

The 991 Speedster would essentially be a 911 GT3 with its roof cut off. Based on a cabriolet body shell, the Speedster features extensive use of carbon fibre for the front trunk lid, front fenders, doors, engine cover, and interior trim. The windshield was shortened and raked for a more aggressive experience, and the fabric top can be folded away quickly under the double-humped tonneau for the ultimate experience in top-down motoring. At its heart was the 991.2’s 4.0-litre DOHC flat six-cylinder engine, producing 502 bhp with 346 foot-pounds of torque. Capable of sprinting to 100 km/h from a standstill in just 3.6 seconds and onwards to a top speed of 310 km/h, the Speedster was made available only with a six-speed manual transmission, making for a truly analog experience. This combination proved to be so popular with Porsche's clients, that the company decided to offer the latest 992 GT3 with a manual gearbox as well.

Bearing serial number 217, this specific Speedster was delivered new to Luxembourg in August of 2019. Outfitted with the Heritage Design package, this was arguably the most desirable option for the 991-generation Speedster. Evoking Porsche’s rich racing heritage, it is finished in Silver Metallic paintwork with a white nose and roundel bearing racing numbers customizable to the client (66 in this particular car’s case), Porsche script alongside the lower sills, and 20-inch satin platinum wheels with black centre-locking hubs. Inside, the Heritage Design cars were treated to a unique two-tone interior Cognac leather seats with the steering wheel, dashboard, and centre-console trimmed in Black leather. Other options include the 90-litre fuel tank, front axle lift, LED headlights in black, and PCM with Sport Chrono amongst other options.

Since its delivery, the Speedster has been driven just under 650 km from new and as such, it presents in beautiful condition both inside and out. Tying Porsche’s rich heritage in with the 991-generation Speedster’s modern performance, the Heritage Design package equipped cars are undoubtably the most desirable Speedsters for their rarity and visual panache. This low-mileage example would certainly be an excellent addition to any collection, or for the Porsche enthusiast who missed out on the opportunity to purchase one when new.
