This Lamborghini Lamborghinetta is the first air-cooled two-cylinder tractor with fuel injection released on the market from Lamborghini. It is an historically important model for the marque, being the first of the new line that would establish the 1R-2R-4R anthology. As noted in Tonino Lamborghini’s tractor tome Ferrucio Lamborghini: I Trattoria, just 823 Lamborghinettas were registered between 1957 and 1962.
This Lamborghinetta offered here is a 1960 example which was produced in late 1959 and registered in Rome on 4 October 1960, and was retained by that original owner until 6 August 1990. This tractor was acquired from a private collection by the consignor in 2020, in “mostly original” condition still wearing its original paint and registration plate.
In late 2020, the consignor had the tractor stripped and resprayed in its factory correct colors of Light Blue (5001) and Blood Orange (2009). A completely new wiring loom was fashioned from the original pattern, and partnered with a new battery and set of front and rear lights. The tachometer and hydraulic brakes are the original units which have been rebuilt.
The air-cooled, 1,462-cubic centimeter two-cylinder engine is believed to be the original 25-horsepower unit; it has been fitted with a new replacement exhaust. Lastly, this Lamborghini tractor has been fitted with a new suite of rubber hoses, bonnet seals, front emblem, and two new front tires. The tractor’s original steering wheel has been stylishly substituted in favor of a 16-inch alloy and riveted wood unit wearing an enameled badge reminiscent of Lamborghini’s 350 and 400 GT road cars.
