Offering double the displacement and horsepower of it base-model sibling, Alfa Romeo’s 147 GTA was a true wolf in sheep’s clothing. Fitted with a 3.2-litre V6 engine producing 247 bhp at 6,200 rpm (compared to the base 1.6-litre inline-four making 104 bhp), it could rocket to 100 km/h from a standstill in 6.3 seconds, leading to a top speed of 246 km/h.
Fitted with a six-speed manual transmission, this example is finished in a sinister colour scheme of Black metallic paintwork over a two-tone black and grey leather interior. One of roughly 800 examples built for the Italian market, it was delivered new to Milan and today is showing just under 32,800 km from new. It is accompanied by a set of manuals, including its original service manual, as well as two sets of keys. Most recently, the car has received a full service at an official Alfa Romeo dealer in February 2021. The car presents in very well-maintained condition throughout and is surely one of the lowest mileage examples available. A recent inspection of the car determined that it is still finished in its original paintwork.
Well received by the automotive press and enthusiasts alike, the 147 GTA proved to be an exciting alternative to “youngtimer” hot-hatchbacks of the mid-2000s like the VW Golf R32 or the Mk 1 Ford Focus RS. Low-mileage examples are difficult to find and thanks to this examples six-speed manual gearbox and attractive colour combination, this is an excellent opportunity to purchase a well-preserved 147 GTA for the enthusiast that might have missed out on one when new.
