At the 2002 Geneva Salon, Ferrari unveiled its replacement for the outgoing 550 Maranello—the 575M Maranello. Perhaps because the new model so closely resembled the 550, the 575 was bequeathed with the suffix “M”, for “modificata”, to signify the myriad improvements undertaken.

The engine’s displacement was increased to 5.75 litres to result in additional power and torque: 508 horsepower and 434 foot-pounds respectively. These developments allowed the 575M to reach a top speed exceeding 320 km/h. More significantly, the 575M was offered with a six-speed Formula 1-style paddle-shift transmission. Not only simulating the full Grand Prix experience, it also trimmed the sprint from a standstill to 100 km/h down to just 4.2 seconds.

Revised active dampers sharpened handling characteristics, while new xenon projector headlamps improved visibility. The cockpit and instrument binnacle were thoroughly modernised in the pursuit of creating the ultimate 21st Century grand tourer.

Claiming rare build specifications and a life of modest driving use, this beautifully presented 575M is a particularly fetching example. Chassis number 141262 was desirably equipped with sport seats, a roll bar, and the coveted HGTC (Handling Grand Turismo Competizione) package, which emulated the 575 GTC factory race car with revised suspension tuning, re-mapped gearing, carbon composite disc brakes with red-painted callipers, and a sports exhaust.

The Ferrari was elegantly finished in Rosso paint over an interior upholstered in Nero leather. According to the car’s original warranty booklet, the 575M was delivered new in April 2005 through Garage Foitek AG of Urdorf, Switzerland to its first owner, a resident of Uitikon Waldegg. The warranty booklet reflects a life of dutiful service, showing five different maintenance appointments at Garage Foitek up to 2012.

After passing into German ownership, the Ferrari was sold in 2018 to the principal of a classic car dealership, at which point the 575M was imported to the United Kingdom. Invoices on file reflect the attention paid to the car, including refurbishment of the wheels in January 2020 and a service with new cam belts in October 2022.

The Ferrari was acquired more recently by the consigning owner, a Swiss-based collector. Displaying just 28,726 kilometres at the time of cataloguing, the elegant 575M Maranello benefits from a life of modest road use and is accompanied by its owner’s manuals in the Ferrari leather pouch. It is further supported by its previous registration documents and EEC Certificate of Conformity.

Ideal for presentation at Ferrari gatherings and local supercar meets, this well-preserved, rarely specified evolution of Maranello’s celebrated return to the front-engine V-12 platform would make a stunning addition to any collection.
