Excluding the 350 examples of the Black Series, production of the SL 65 AMG reportedly stretched to just 2,705 units. Among them, the car on offer was configured with Black paint and 19-inch AMG twin-spoke wheels over a Black and Anthracite Exclusive leather interior.

Given how high the SL 65 AMG sat in the Mercedes-Benz range, this specimen was lavishly equipped. Specification highlights include the Designo Alcantara Anthracite roof lining, electrically adjustable seats featuring quilted inserts and memory functionality, the novel Airscarf system to blow warm air onto occupants’ necks, high-gloss carbon fibre trim, automatic climate control, bi-xenon headlights, and the premium sound system.

Build information, available on file, records that the Mercedes-Benz was delivered new in the United States in September 2009. Its American ownership history is detailed in a clean CARFAX report, which notes that the SL 65 AMG was initially purchased in October to be used as part of a corporate fleet in California. The following December, it was acquired by a private owner and issued with a state title for Montana. The car is believed to have remained in the state through to October 2017, at which point it was exported to Belgium. At the time of cataloguing the odometer reads 30,298 kilometres.

Dominated by a mighty twin-turbocharged 6.0-litre V-12 that delivers its 604 horsepower and 1000 Newton-metres of torque through a five-speed automatic transmission, this SL 65 AMG is accompanied by its owner’s guide and service book in their leather folio, a first aid kit, and a Manufacturer Declaration of Conformity.
