Completed in July 1984, this Grand Prix White 911 Carrera 3.2 Coupe is one of just 755 option code M491 “Turbo-Look” Coupes produced for the United States between 1984 and 1989. Far more than a cosmetic package, the front spoiler, rear wing, and wide fenders were accompanied by a selection of mechanical components carried over from the 930 Turbo. This included stiffer suspension, superior brakes, wider wheels, aluminum rear trailing arms, and larger anti-sway bars.

The culmination of these parts was a true connoisseur’s 911, combining naturally aspirated power with enhanced handling capabilities. The option tag found under the hood and in the accompanying original owner’s manual, as well as a Porsche Certificate of Authenticity, confirm the originality and authenticity of this exclusive equipment. In addition to the costly 491 option, this Porsche left the factory fitted with sports seats, cruise control, a Blaupunkt radio, KPH/MPH speedometer, and an electric sliding sunroof. The interior is upholstered in Burgundy leather with a Black roof liner.

The car was delivered to its first owner in August 1984 in the city of Stockton, California. The warranty and maintenance booklet indicates that service was carried out at Pacific Valley Motor Co. at consistent intervals through 1987, and oil changes are stamped at other shops until 1999. Registrations on file show the Porsche remained under the care of the original owner until 2012, when it was acquired by the White Collection. Invoices dated from 2012 to 2018 note the order of new door seals, speaker grilles, front spoiler, and a variety of parts pertaining to the headlights. While in the White Collection, the car has been started and run to operating temperature monthly. Original owner’s books with pouch, an air compressor, and a tool roll accompany the car upon purchase, along with service invoices.

With just 29,242 miles showing on the odometer at the time of cataloguing, this 1984 “Turbo-Look” Carrera 3.2 presents as an incredibly well-preserved, two-owner example of this rare and desirable model. Well-equipped with a variety of performance parts, the 491 option package transforms the 911 into a stout performer, and as a result, it remains a must-have for any true Porsche enthusiast.
