- Limited production, luxurious, top-of-the-line model

- Elegant in black over black

Brimming with Harley Earl trademark design details like a wrap-around windshield and a low cut, bulging beltline, the 1957 through 1960 Cadillac Eldorado Broughams were also the last of the truly handcrafted Cadillacs. Inspired by the Brougham Dream Car concept of the 1955 General Motors Motorama, they were aimed at the most discriminating, luxury-oriented customers.

Just 400 were carefully assembled in the first year of production, and Cadillac would only build another 500 or so over the subsequent three model years. Considerably pricier than any rival, including Rolls-Royce, the $13,974 GM asked for the Eldorado Brougham was also twice the price of the comparatively plebian – but still rather well outfitted – Eldorado Biarritz. GM lost about $10,000 on each sold, but that was a fair price to pay for these engineering testbeds.

A Southern car since it left the assembly line, the 1957 Cadillac Eldorado Brougham on offer here is finished in a very elegant Ebony over black leather combination, which further augments its striking, commanding appearance. The exceptionally straight, rust-free body features chrome and brightwork in excellent condition. The car is currently fitted with period-correct whitewall tires.

Subject to a thorough interior restoration in recent years, the Eldorado Brougham's elegant details appear factory new. Clear gauges and attractive brightwork and trim confirm that the work was completed with attention to detail. This stunning Cadillac is offered from an esteemed collection and has been well maintained.

With a specification level and attention to detail few luxury cars built today can match, the Cadillac Eldorado Brougham is a fine example of the “Standard of the World.” An ideal centerpiece for any collection, this masterpiece of postwar Detroit engineering is ready to be both enjoyed and displayed by its next discriminating owner.
