This 3100 is coming off a recent body off restoration of a rust-free platform that was completed to original specifications. The 235-cid straight-six engine is backed by a three-speed manual transmission. The electrical system is a 12-volt conversion. The Chevy is finished in Burgundy Maroon with complementary burgundy interior. The engine compartment and undercarriage are equally fine in appearance. The bed of the truck has naturally finished wood slats. The vee-shaped windshield, corner windows, side-mounted spare tire and wide white walls display outstanding 1950s American truck design.

This model of half-ton pickup benefited from a redesign in 1948 that took Chevy trucks into a new era of comfort, convenience and style. The basic intent was to provide more room and comfort for occupants. The cab, described in period as "Unisteel Battleship" construction, was larger in every direction. New extra-wide doors swung open on concealed hinges and extended down to cover the sills. The glass area grew considerably with a wider windshield, side windows and backlight; Chevy called the result "Observation Car Vision." This is the final year for this design.
