After focusing exclusively on bespoke builds featuring naturally aspirated air-cooled flat-six engines, Singer launched its Classic Turbo Services in 2022 to offer clients the option of forced-induction performance through commissions that celebrate the origins of Porsche’s turbocharged heritage and carry it forward into the 21st century. Featuring plentiful torque, reduced noise levels, and the option of more compliant damping and suspension performance, Turbo Study builds offer the potential for a more relaxed and comfortable long-distance, high-speed touring focus. Singer focuses exclusively on reimagining the type 964 Porsche 911 chassis, because of its ideal combination of classic design and modern chassis dynamics. Every aspect of the car is deconstructed, then masterfully reworked in collaboration with the owner’s input before being refitted with jewel-like precision.

At the heart of Classic Turbo Services builds is an evolution of the revered “Mezger” air-cooled flat-six, so-called for its robust, race-bred architecture developed by hallowed Porsche engineer Hanz Mezger. With 3.8 liters of displacement, twin turbochargers incorporating electric wastegates, and bespoke air-to-water intercoolers mounted inside the intake plenums, output for Singer’s turbo flat-six starts at 450 horsepower and can exceed 500 horsepower.

Design-wise, the carbon fiber bodywork takes inspiration from Porsche’s original turbocharged model, the type 930 911 Turbo, subtly reinterpreting its aesthetics, proportions, and function. The iconic “shark fin” stone guard on the rear fender of the type 930, for example, is reimagined as a cold-air intake to optimize engine combustion and cooling performance.

Offered here is the “Paradise Found Commission,” built from a 1992 Japanese-market coupe and beautifully finished in paint-to-sample Paradise Blue with Satin Black trim and Satin Carbon accents. Its 3.8-liter twin-turbo flat-six sends 503 horsepower to the rear wheels through a Singer-developed six-speed manual transaxle. Other highlights include titanium mufflers, a bespoke adjustable suspension system, Brembo carbon-ceramic disc brakes, and specially developed Bosch ABS, electronic stability control, and traction control.

Singer’s reimagined Fuchs-style wheels and type 930-style “whale tail” spoiler set off the exterior, while the interior truly impresses with its Singer-exclusive Cinnamon leather upholstery. Blue and white hand-woven leather inserts on the 12-way adjustable seats give the effect of a heritage plaid fabric pattern. Oatmeal square-weave carpeting, Satin anodized aluminum trim, and Piano Black accents complete the impeccable presentation.

With incessant demand for its builds, each of which commands thousands of hours in painstaking labor, deliveries of Singer commissions typically take years from the time of deposit. Here is an opportunity for instant gratification—to own what is surely to be a timeless Classic Turbo for the ages.
