Ferrari debuted the new 360 Modena at the 1999 Geneva Motor Show. The successor to the F355, the new model significantly modernized the marque’s mid-engine V-8 offering. The 360 Modena featured an all-aluminum spaceframe developed in partnership with Alcoa. It was 28% lighter, 40% stiffer, with only a slight compromise of a 10% increase in overall size. An all-new Pininfarina-styled body graced the lightweight frame. The new Pininfarina design, penned by Goran Popović, ushered in a modern look for the brand with fixed headlights, sensuous curves, and a longer wheelbase with a wider track.
Power came from a 3.6-liter V-8 featuring a flat-plane crank and titanium connecting rods. The high-revving V-8 boasted output of 395 horsepower, capable of achieving 0–60 in just over four seconds. The engine could be paired with either a gated six-speed manual or a six-speed “F1” single-clutch automated manual. The Ferrari 360 Modena was produced through the 2005 model year, during which time it served as the marque’s flagship mid-engine V-8 coupe.
This 2000 Ferrari 360 Modena left the factory finished in Rosso Corsa over Crema Leather with the coveted gated six-speed manual gearbox. This highly optioned example was further outfitted with red brake calipers, a six-disc CD changer, a silver dedication plate, black rear Challenge grille, the iconic Scuderia Ferrari fender shields, large carbon fiber racing seats with Connolly leather, all interior stitchings in color, and most notably, the rarely ticked option box for a painted removable top. It is believed that only 25 cars worldwide were fitted with the optional painted removable top, and it is estimated that of those, only 12 were destined for the US market. This 360 Modena was sold new through The Collection in Coral Gables, Florida.
Today this Ferrari 360 Modena is offered having covered 27,407 miles from new at time of cataloguing. In September 2024, Avid Motorsports in Springfield, Illinois, serviced the vehicle, which included replacement of the timing belts. The 360 Modena has covered fewer than 300 miles since that work was completed. The Ferrari is accompanied by select service history, window sticker, owner’s manuals with pouch, factory toolkit, and a copy of a Road & Track article covering the rarity of the pop-out Ferrari 360 sunroof.
Finished in a wonderful factory color combination, desirably equipped with the gated six-speed manual gearbox, and further optioned with the exceedingly rare factory sunroof, this Ferrari 360 Modena checks all the boxes, making it a rare opportunity for the discerning collector.
