Mercedes-Benz punctuated the success of its SLS AMG supercar with a Final Edition unveiled in a twin premier at the 2013 Los Angeles Auto Show and Tokyo Motor Show. A limited series with only 350 units total, the Final Edition production run consisted of approximately 200 coupes and 150 roadsters. Only 10 of each were allocated to the US market.

Exclusive equipment included a carbon-fiber hood with central air outlet, a carbon-fiber front splitter, a fixed carbon-fiber rear wing—as seen on the SLS AMG Black Series—and lightweight forged alloy wheels painted matte black. Final Edition interiors were finished in high-grade black leather from Mercedes-Benz’s exclusive designo program. They also featured silver diamond-pattern contrast stitching on the seats and door panels, silver seatbelts, and Alcantara accents on the steering wheel, dashboard, roof liner, and rear parcel shelf.

Many consider the Final Edition to be the most desirable SLS AMG variant of all, as it treads the line between the refinement and subtlety of the regular-production model and the more aggressive, track-focused Black Series, while benefitting from the engine and handling upgrades of the SLS AMG GTs. Specifically, the 6.3-liter V-8 engine was tweaked to unleash an extra 20 brake horsepower, while the AMG Speedshift DCT seven-speed transmission was enhanced to deliver even faster gear changes. The suspension was tuned too, with stiffer bushings and thicker rollbars.

Offered here is one of the exceedingly rare, US-market Final Edition Roadsters delivered new to Houston, Texas. Showing less than 1,850 miles at cataloguing time, it remains exceptionally well-preserved. The exterior is finished in special-order designo Mystic White, a $2,300 option. The car was equipped from new with an additional $22,070 in desirable options, including, the Bang & Olufsen sound system, carbon-fiber engine-compartment covers ($5,400 alone), carbon-fiber exterior mirror covers, extended carbon-fiber trim, the AMG Performance Media package, and an indoor car cover.

Now offered with its original window sticker and car cover, this US-delivered 2015 Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG GT Final Edition Roadster is compelling on many levels, being extremely rare, exquisitely outfitted, and clearly well-cared for its entire life.
