When Porsche re-introduced the exclusive 911 R back in 2016, a lucky few experienced what many had desired for years: a street-oriented, wingless 911 developed by the motorsport division which utilized many of the components from their GT models. With the immense demand built up from the 911 R, Porsche capitalized on the opportunity to bring this idea into full series production with the 911 GT3 Touring in 2017. Based on the updated 991.2 platform, this rendition of the GT3 marked the return of the manual transmission and paired it with a screaming 4.0-liter flat six-cylinder engine.
Now in its second generation, the latest 911 GT3 with Touring Package, as it is officially known by Porsche, retains the same engine—complete with its incredible 9,000-rpm rev limit, 1,500 rpm higher than a standard 2022 Porsche 911 Carrera S—as the previous iteration but now features double wishbone front suspension similar to the setup used in the RSR racecar. This allows the front axle to be twice as stiff as the first generation without compromising ride quality thanks to the improved body control. Incremental development continues to be the defining ethos of the famed Stuttgart-based manufacturer, and the 992 Generation of the GT3 confirms the 911 gets better and better by the year.
Delivered to Porsche River Oaks in Houston, Texas, the example on offer is finished in the brilliant color Shark Blue over a black leather interior with cloth seat inserts and GT Silver stitching. Additionally, the GT3 Touring features a number of desirable options including Porsche Carbon Ceramic Brakes with yellow calipers, an extended-range fuel tank, front axle lift system, a carbon roof, carbon fiber-backed full bucket seats, LED-Matrix headlights, and the Sport Chrono package. Cosmetically, the interior is finished with a racing yellow central tachometer and stopwatch, while the seats are complemented by Shark Blue seat belts. Outside, the 911 features Exclusive Design taillights and Satin Black wheels.
With just 35 miles on the odometer at the time of cataloguing, this 911 GT3 with Touring Package on offer presents in near showroom condition. This is a wonderful opportunity to get behind the wheel of a very well-optioned example of Porsche’s latest and greatest—a model that seems destined to be remembered, and enjoyed, by dedicated enthusiasts for decades to come.
