The generation of Porsche 911 produced from late 1993 through early 1998, known to insiders and enthusiasts as the type 993, is immortalized for being the final evolution of the hallowed sports car featuring an air-cooled engine—a critical distinction to hardline Porsche purists. Not only did the 993 mark the end of a legacy that started with the progenitor 1948 Porsche 356, it would also prove to be the last of the hand-built 911s.

As soon as the voluptuous type 993 Carrera was introduced, people were clamoring to see what a Turbo version would look like. The anticipation would persist until 1995, when the new 911 Turbo was unveiled for the 1996 model year. Dressing up the already handsome 993 with the Turbo’s wider bodywork was a proven formula for success. One of the most impressive visual cues is the car’s imposing presence from the rear view, its back fenders widened by approximately 1.25 inches. The front was extended downward, allowing space for three large air intakes to improve aerodynamics. The new “tea tray” type rear spoiler had an almost integral, wrap-around look that appeared to melt over the car. This period of ownership lasted just over a year before the car was sold with a recorded mileage of 6,878 miles to an individual in California. Now showing 16,160 miles on the odometer at the time of cataloging, the Porsche has been sparingly used throughout its life and has been with the current Kuwait-based owner since 2015.

Finished in a Stygian shade of Midnight Blue Metallic, the paint is an attractive departure from the typical blacks and reds commonly found on Turbos of this era. The interior is luxuriously upholstered in supple Cashmere leather while the dashboard is swathed in contrasting black hides. This Turbo further features the optional Light Maplewood steering wheel and Light Rootwood shift lever, providing the cockpit with a stately quality. Additional boxes ticked off on the order form include stainless steel exhaust pipes and rim caps with the Porsche crest.

Serviced at Porsche dealerships under current ownership, an invoice dated October 2016 details a belt replacement, brake flush, and cleaning of the intake system. In 2018, the car returned to the same dealer, Porsche Centre Kuwait, for an oil change, new oil filter, and a cleaning of the fuel system.
