One of only 34 examples produced as part of an extremely limited series, this Virgil Abloh-designed Black Rainbow monogram Malle Courier 110 Trunk from Louis Vuitton offers the familiar, innovative and yet unexpected clash of traditional and contemporary aesthetics, which has become Abloh’s calling card.

Abloh, whose artful and inventive fusion of high fashion with streetwear revolutionized the world of couture, first unveiled this iconoclastic trunk to much critical acclaim during Louis Vuitton’s fall/winter 2019 menswear collection shown at Paris’ Jardin des Tuileries. It is an attention-grabbing piece from end to end, a classic 110-centimeter Malle Courrier trunk updated to feature a modern neon rainbow gradation, black anodized hardware, and the designer’s signature “X” motif alongside the iconic monogram pattern Louis Vuitton has utilized since 1896. Abloh brought a jolt of freshness and ingenuity to the runway before his untimely passing in November 2021 and items designed by him remain highly collectible to this day.
