In 1993, Ferrari introduced a competition-prepared variant of its 348 supercar for use in a new single-make race series dubbed the Ferrari Challenge. The series evolved over the years, offering a home for track-only versions of roadgoing V-8 models, continuing to iterations of the F355 in 1995 and 360 Modena in 2000. Since these cars were exclusively for the circuit, the factory received sizeable demand for a commensurate entry that could be legally driven on public roads.

Accordingly, the 360 Challenge Stradale of 2003 was envisioned as a street-legal version of the Challenge racer—although in actuality was a modified 360 Modena designed for part-time track use. It shaved a considerable amount of weight from the base model with the removal of sound insulation and other creature comforts.

The new Challenge Stradale was equipped with advanced mechanical elements such as a Formula 1-style paddle-shift transaxle, uprated carbon-composite brakes, lower and stiffer suspension, heftier anti-roll bar, and a modified V-8 engine. The retuned mill now developed higher compression to yield a dividend of 25 additional horses, for a total output of 425 horsepower.

Ferrari ultimately built fewer than 1,300 examples of the prodigious 360 Challenge Stradale. It became an instant classic among Maranello racing connoisseurs, as the purest and fastest example of the already-dazzling 360 Modena.

Claiming a life of regular service attention and modest driving use, chassis number 135973 offered here was completed in January 2004. It was finished in Nero Daytona paint, featuring the Italian-themed Challenge Stradale stripes, and appointed with Scuderia shields and black-painted brake callipers. According to an estratto cronologico on file, the Ferrari was delivered new in January 2004 to an enthusiast based in Alessandria, Italy. In November 2008, the car passed to a specialist dealer and was then exported outside of its home country in 2012.

In 2014, the Ferrari was purchased by a collector in the United Kingdom, who imported the car to England and registered it in December 2014. Service invoices from this period demonstrate attention by marque dealer Stratstone Ferrari Manchester, including replacement of the timing belt.

The following January, the Challenge Stradale was acquired by the consigning owner. Under their care, it has been dutifully maintained with regular services by marque dealer H R Owen, as well as additional work by specialist Bob Houghton (as clarified by invoices on file and stamps in the car’s warranty booklet). This included the replacement of the timing belt and auxiliary belts in October 2024 and an annual service with software update of the ECUs in January 2026.

During the vendor’s 11-year ownership, they claim that the Ferrari has never been used on a track. MoT test certificates clarify the car has accrued only 3,403 kilometres since October 2014. Similarly, they understand that the prior owner never drove the car on circuit either. Upon purchasing the Challenge Stradale, the clutch wear was noted at 3 per cent (observed December 2014). It may be logically concluded, therefore, that the car has largely avoided hard driving, which is surely a major factor in its current pristine state of condition.

Accompanied by its owner’s manuals in the proper pouch, this beautifully presented 360 Challenge Stradale displayed just 14,925 kilometres on the odometer at the time of cataloguing. Ideal for enjoyment on circuits or presentation at supercar gatherings and Ferrari events, this exceptional, well-maintained, track-ready berlinetta would make for a fantastic acquisition for any enthusiastic tifoso.
