When ‘V-12’ and ‘Ferrari’ are placed in the same sentence, the mind often harks back to the golden era of the 1960s, when the Italian manufacturer’s cars were synonymous with the use of 12-cylinder V-formation engines. By the 1970s, the introduction of the flat-12 and V-8 powerplants seemed to mark the death knell of the once revered V-12. However, the launch of the 550 Maranello in 1996 marked a crucial turning point, by being Ferrari’s first all-new, two-seater V-12-engined Ferrari GT car for more than a quarter of a century. With its 5.5-litre V-12, tubular chassis, rear-mounted transaxle and Pininfarina styling, the 550 Maranello drew inspiration from legends of the past. Ferrari sold 3,083 examples of the Maranello from 1996 to 2001.
Imported to Singapore by Hong Seh Motors, this 550 Maranello left the factory in 2000, finished in Argento Nürburgring over a Nero leather interior. A rare example, it was one of just 457 550 Maranellos configured in right-hand drive. For the next 23 years, this 550 would stay with its original owner, preserved as part of The Factory Fresh Collection. As a result, its odometer reads just 132 kilometres at the time of cataloguing, likely making it one of the lowest mileage examples of its type. Factory data confirms that the Ferrari retains its matching-numbers engine.
This 550 Maranello is accompanied by its Ferrari leather folio, warranty card, spare key, two spare alarm fobs, torch, owner’s manual, Ferrrari Identicar slip and card, radio code, radio keys, Hi-Fi manual, Hi-Fi warranty card, and an alarm system manual.
Presenting an unrepeatable opportunity to acquire what truly is a “box fresh” example of the 550 Maranello, this Ferrari is sure to draw the attention of serious enthusiasts and collectors.
