The Doghouse Owners’ Club was formed by Bette Hill and XXX Brabham after Jack Brabham was overheard saying ‘I’m in the doghouse again’ when referring to his wife’s ebbing tolerance with his absence due to racing. The formal name of the club was XXX and was originally started as a tongue-in-cheek club for the wives of Grand Prix racing drivers but soon became an important support network for the wives and widows of drivers who risked everything in a hugely dangerous sport.

Some of the plates originate from early in the clubs’ history, whilst many are from 1992 when Bette Hill was still running it.
