This bronze sculpture on a granite base by noted sculptor, designer, and painter Stanley Wanlass is marked “AC” for “Artist Copy,” designating it as the first edition of “Dream Machines” approved by Wanlass before the numbered pieces in the series were released. Considered one of the artist’s most visually interesting and involved automotive bronze sculptures, “Dream Machines” depicts children gleefully barreling along in self-made box cars with dogs racing by their side. This unique artist copy, signed “Wanlass 89,” features intricate hand-painted highlights and was a permanent fixture in the artist’s own personal gallery for a few years, prior to the consignor acquiring it directly from him in 2016.
