The 1940 model year marked the final year of Oldsmobile’s first-generation Series 60 production. Powered by a 230-cubic-inch L-head inline-six-cylinder engine, the entry level Series 60s were offered in six different body styles including a new-for-the-model-range convertible and station wagon.

This Oldsmobile Series 60 Convertible Coupe is one of 1,347 produced for 1940. It has been repainted in the stunning shade of Titian Maroon and features a tan convertible top with burgundy piping. The exterior is equipped with bumper guards, fog lights, dual sideview mirrors, a driver spotlight, and fender skirts. The car rides on wide whitewall tires mounted on painted steel wheels with trim rings and factory wheel covers. The car’s 230 cubic-inch six-cylinder engine is backed by a three-speed manual transmission. The interior features burgundy seats, door panels, and carpet. It is equipped with an AM radio and a 30-hour wind-up clock.

The car is believed to have been purchased new in New York in 1940. The consignor has owned the car for 25 years, during which time it has been garage-kept and driven regularly. He purchased the car from Dan McMinn, an Oldsmobile dealer from Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. The car has 73,324 actual miles at time of cataloguing and is accompanied by factory literature.
