22 hp, 176 cu in. side-valve L-head four-cylinder engine, two-speed planetary transmission, front and rear transverse leaf-spring suspension, and hand-operated mechanical brakes. Wheelbase: 100 in.
In 1915, the Ford Motor Company produced its one-millionth vehicle, which was quite remarkable considering production began with the Model A just 12 years earlier, in 1903. “Gentleman, a million of anything is a great many,” said Henry Ford at a banquet celebrating the landmark achievement. Thanks to continued production efficiencies, the price of the runabout was now just $440, which was down from $850 at its introduction in 1908.
While little is known of the history of this Model T, it was, until recently, part of a long-term private collection in Rhode Island. Although it sports an older restoration, it runs and drives nicely and will be perfect for tours or local shows and events. The top and seats are in good condition, and all of the requisite brass trim remains intact. The consigner describes it as a “clean, presentable car.”
It will be an excellent entry into the car collector hobby, or it will be ideal for those fans of the “T,” who are looking for a highly usable example from the end of an era.
