The Kirkham family has been in the car restoration and parts business since 1988, when Thomas Sr. started T.K.O., a Ford specialty shop in Provo, Utah. The operation was restoring Ford Mustangs and other collector cars and earned a reputation as a very high quality restoration house through its custom work on some rare Shelby Cobras. Later, Thomas Jr., an aeronautical engineer, left the USAF to create Kirkham Motorsports. His brother David, who has a degree in Manufacturing Engineering from BYU, soon joined him in the Cobra restoration business.

Kirkham Motorsports started in 1994 with the goal to build the finest replicas in the world. It all began when brothers, David and Thomas Kirkham, were restoring their own Cobra, CSX3104. At the same time, a relative bought and imported a Polish fighter jet. As the brothers looked at the airplane, they could not help but notice the striking similarities between it and CSX3104. They wondered if the people who built the plane could build an exacting replica of a Cobra. When the Polish manufacturer responded positively, a visit to the facility and satisfactory negotiations led to the first KM cars being produced. Kirkham Motorsports are recognized as being an engineering-oriented company that has been able to push the performance envelope without forgetting originality. Since inception, this well-respected constructor has built over 800 replica 427 and 289 Cobras.

The vehicle currently being offered is Kirkham Chassis # KMP 005 SH. This spectacular 1967 Kirkham is reported as being the 5TH Kirkham to have been produced by Kirkham Motor Sports. This example was initially sold and delivered to Corvette aficionado Steve Hendrickson. This spectacular example is powered by a vintage 427-cid side oiler engine that is presented in a very neat engine bay that features select systems being plumbed with Aeroquip-style fittings and braided stainless steel hoses. The transmission is a vintage four-speed top loader unit. The suspension is an exact duplicate to the original style of an original Shelby Cobra. The rear differential is an original Salisbury posi-traction unit. The hydraulic brake system utilizes OEM style girling brake calipers.

The vehicle is finished in period correct black Lacquer with red accent racing stripes. The interior is equipped with the optional original style leather seats, door panels, dashboard and rear bulkhead. The wheels are period correct alloy knock offs. It has a rollbar, period-style alloy wheels, BFGoodrich rubber, full instrumentation, windwings, hood scoop, side pipes and quick-fill fuel filler. The Kirkham Cobra is promoted to the legions of Cobra aficionados as being extremely accurate in their presentation and this is no exception.
