The MG displays a magic all its own. Its appeal is strongest among those who admire the characteristics which commonly mark a thoroughbred. Few sports car, in period, inspired such enthusiasm, or commanded a more loyal band of fellow devotees to a brand. The driver who has enjoyed the many delights of an MG will recognize the wonderful blend of power and beauty, with sparkling all-around period performance. The MG MGA was built with strength and rigidity and offered a brilliant choice of contemporary colors.
This British Racing Green example has tan leather interior with a tan canvas top and was frame-off restored in 2008, then has been driven minimally since. The car subsequently won Best of Show at “British Car Fest” and Best of Show at “Vintage Wheels and Wings.” The car comes with extensive receipts and photos from this restoration process.
The MG runs with a 1,600-cc inline four-cylinder “Gold Seal” engine that is matched to a four-speed manual transmission. Windwings and the proper perforated steel wheels with center caps complete the spartan and efficient package.
The car was advertised in period as “…poetry in motion; there is nothing quite like the way the swift new horses level the hills and the way it steps through tight bends with cat-like precision.” The fun and appreciation of these British sports car legends continue to this day.
