The Bentley Continental would become the first Bentley produced under the guise of parent Volkswagen AG. First shown at the Paris Motor Show in 2002, its visual impact was pure Bentley, yet it was German technology and finance that made the GT possible. Production cars began to roll in mid-2003. Power is provided by a W-12 engine created by mating two narrow angle V-6 Volkswagen engines on a common crankshaft affording 552-hp. It is transmitted through Torsen all-wheel drive and a six-speed automatic transmission with paddle shifters. Top speed is quoted at 198-mph, thanks in part to the sleek fastback shape. The car rides on 19-inch rims and a computer controlled air suspension and chassis with electronic traction and stability controls aids in handling and comfort.

Performance is formidable with Motor Trend reporting a 0- to 60-mph dash of 4.4 seconds and a 12.9 second 1/4-mile time at 109.7-mph in a June 2004 test. As with all Bentleys, it is lavishly equipped with every conceivable option. With little more than 17,500 miles it has been sparingly used from new and is beautifully presented in Dark Blue with a contrasting saddle tan leather interior.
