Popular story has it that the first Lincoln Continentals were born out of a request from Edsel Ford for a one off car to drive in Florida when staying at his winter home. His instructions that it have a "continental" look to it meant that stylist Bob Gregorie gave him a car so exclusive that Fords wealthy friends and neighbors all insisted it become a production model. For 1940, it became so.

Now considered one of the most attractively styled cars of the classic era, a 1941 Continental turns heads as easily today as it did when it was new.
