Chrysler's "letter" series were a car to be respected and enthusiasts of the day agreed. Taking a New Yorker two door and giving it Windsor level trim and an Imperial grille, they topped it off by only putting their Firepower Hemi between the front fenders. After sweeping up in a variety of motorsports however, the expense of manufacturing the Hemi in such limited numbers meant it's time was up.

One result of this was that the 1959 300E came equipped with a 413-cid wedge head engine. An exotic looking brute in its own right with a long cross ram intake that placed one carb over each inner fender and feeding the opposite cylinder bank, the power level was unchanged from the previous years Hemi headed engine.

The 300 purists reacted with less excitement to the wedge and combined with a recesion it made for a low volume year for the 300. With only 125 convertibles made, the chance to own one comes rarely. Hindsight has shown the 300E to be every bit as deserving of the accolades its predecessors received. This lot is one of those once in a lifetime chances an automotive enthusiast has to know first hand the exclusive thrill of having an original Chrysler 300.
