The close link between Ferrari’s road and racing cars is unbreakable. Since the inception of Scuderia Ferrari—now the oldest and most successful team in Formula One, having competed in every World Championship since 1950—the race-bred engineering and technology has carried across to the road cars that proudly wear the Prancing Horse badge. In 2019, “SF90” became a buzzword around the hallowed halls of Maranello. Sebastian Vettel and Charles Leclerc would drive the SF90 in that year’s Formula One season, and in the same year the SF90 Stradale broke cover as Ferrari’s newest road car.
The connection between road and track felt closer than ever. Both machines were named to celebrate the 90th anniversary of Scuderia Ferrari, while the road car was marked out by its “Stradale” moniker. The F1 racer was powered by a petrol engine working with an electric motor, also true for the SF90 Stradale. The road car was equipped with a 769 horsepower twin-turbocharged V-8 paired with an eight-speed dual-clutch transmission, along with three electric motors (one behind each front wheel and one at the rear) and a 7.9-kilowatt lithium-ion battery pack. While this hybrid system enables up to 26 kilometres of electric-only driving, its inclusion was key to the supercar’s overall performance stats—the motors deliver up to 217 additional horsepower, for an incredible total system output of 986 horsepower.
The exterior of the SF90 Stradale is a sculptural masterpiece of aerodynamic design, intended to manipulate airflow, controlling drag and downforce via several active elements. Inside, the thoroughly high-tech cockpit features a fully digital dashboard and touch controls. Ferrari’s characteristic drive-mode selector—in this case dubbed the “eManettino”—not only governs performance parameters as it does with other Ferraris, but also controls the various states of hybrid-electric operation and battery power regeneration. In short, the SF90 Stradale is a landmark Ferrari; a brilliant synergy between traditional paradigms and new advancements. It is the culmination of nearly a century’s worth of innovation from the famed Italian marque.
The SF90 Stradale offered here is an attractively specified example, made to 2022 model year specification and delivered new to the Middle East. The Ferrari left the Maranello factory in two-tone Rosso Corsa over a Nero exterior finish, complemented by a yellow stripe. The car was built with options including 20-inch forged diamond-cut wheels, carbon fibre front spoiler and side air splitter, black tailpipe tips, and yellow brake callipers. The interior is configured in natural Cuoio, with the electric adjustable seats finished in a special design with red Cavallino details stitched into the headrests, further enhanced by red seat stitching. The SF90 Stradale benefits from a premium Hi-Fi system, front and rear parking sensors, and an electrochromic rear-view mirror. The Ferrari is offered for sale with just 2,561 kilometres on its odometer at the time of cataloguing.
From the very beginning, Enzo Ferrari sought to incorporate racing technology into the road cars that bore his name. With the SF90 Stradale, this has been achieved in name, in spirit, and in practice—and this low-mileage 2022 example offers you the immediate opportunity to experience the result for yourself.
