The G 650 Landaulet was akin to a greatest hits compilation by Mercedes-Benz. The basis for the model was the much-loved Geländewagen off-roader, equipped here with a convertible roof over the rear passenger compartment. Then, for a marque synonymous with luxury, the wheelbase was extended by more than half a metre to allow for the Maybach division to fit reclining, memory, massaging rear seats from the S 600 limousine. Next, it was over to the AMG performance branch, which saw fit to install a twin-turbocharged, 6-litre, V-12 engine mated to a seven-speed automatic transmission. Exhaling through side-exit exhausts, the enormous powerplant generated some 621 horsepower. Finally, the car was lifted by the portal axles found on the G 500 4x4² and equipped with three locking differentials.

The example offered here was originally delivered to Qatar on 16 January 2018. Finished in Designo Mystic White, the exterior was specified with a carbon fibre finish for the outer protective strips to match AMG carbon trim pieces. A scratch-resistant coat of clear varnish was applied, while the G 650 sits on a set of 22-inch, immersion-polished, five twin-spoke wheels. The Exclusive Leather option was selected for the cabin, which is trimmed in two-tone black and red quilted hide to accompany the black fabric roof. Velour floor mats and a black microfibre headlining complete the interior. Highlights from the impressive list of equipment include a Harman Kardon surround sound system and a DVD player as part of the entertainment package for the individual rear seats that come with picnic tables.

Recorded with three owners from new, this G 650 Landaulet displayed 2,338 kilometres at the time of cataloguing and is accompanied by its owner’s guides. The car benefits from a January 2024 service by German Experts Car Maintenance of Abu Dhabi, with the accompanying invoice (available to view on file) totalling 1,294 AED.

The boxy, utilitarian design makes the G-Wagen instantly recognisable in any form. With an imposing raised ride height, a burbling V-12 engine, and presented in Landaulet form, this example is sure to stand out that much more.
