This 1930 Ahrens-Fox 500 GPM Model V Fire Engine was originally owned by the Falmouth Massachusetts Fire Department. It was purchased by the current owner over 30-years ago and has undergone a total frame-off restoration which was just finished last year. (The original build sheets are included). It was restored to the original specifications including the Engine 4 designation. The gold trim is 23-karat gold including the scrolls which were made from the original diagrams from the factory. The restoration included Ahrens-Fox #1 red lacquer paint, all rusted metal was cut out and replaced with new steel panels, the wood was all replaced with oak as original, running boards and tail board are covered in green battle ship linoleum, new windshield glass and rubber molding; the seat frame was totally rebuilt with oak and covered in black leather.

Although the engine only has 9,673 original miles the heads and oil pan were removed and the engine inspected and the valves were rebuilt. The entire drive line was removed and repaired where necessary. The YXC-3 Hercules six-cylinder engine starts easy and runs strong. The Fuller four-speed transmission shifts like a 1930 truck should. The brake system was completely rebuilt including the vacuum assist, new brake shoes and wheel cylinders. New 700x20 tires, tubes and flaps were installed, as were all new electrical wires including the magneto and distributor. Equipment included with the fire engine are: fire hose, nozzles, ladder, siren, red light, spotlight, hard suctions and strainer, fire extinguisher, display fire helmets, bell, 500-gpm gear pump, oak hose bed cover, rubber fire hose and nozzle on hose reel, plus AF Pike pole.
