The most powerful of the 1966 Corvettes were immediately identifiable by the power bulge in the hood. The 427 cubic inch Turbo-Jet V-8 version could rocket you to 140-mph or do the familiar 0- to 60-mph in around five seconds.

This Corvette is an extremely early big-block example that left the factory in October of 1965. From there, it was delivered to a Canadian dealer who chose to keep the car for his own personal use, instead of selling it. Shortly into the production run of the 427 Sting Ray, an engineering change recommendation was issued for the engines to be detuned to meet insurance rules of the time so almost every big-block Sting Ray has the 427/425 engine. The dealer who owned this Sting Ray reportedly did not send it in for the modification so it still retains its original and more powerful 427/450 engine to this day. Almost every desirable option for the Sting Ray is present on this example.

The current owner of this Corvette purchased the car in 2006 with only 6,000 original miles and even the original tires were still on the car. The owner then did extensive work to the car making sure that it was mechanically sound and could be fully enjoyed. Recently a new convertible top was installed to make the car more usable. Every other aspect of the car was left in exactly the condition that it was found in. Over the years, parts of the Sunfire Yellow paint have been touched up, but the car has never had a full re-spray and much of the paint is original. The entire interior and all the carpet is completely original and shows extremely little wear. After getting the car to running condition, the owner exercised it regularly by driving it in rallies and for special occasions. Today the odometer shows 35,249 original miles and the car is better than ever.
