From 1955-1963 Virgil Exner brought to Chrysler his “forward look design,” in 1960 Dodge introduced the Polara as the top-of-the-line model to compete with competitors such as Fords Galaxie 500 and Chevrolets Impala. This Exner designed 1961 Dodge Polara four-door sedan is presented with a 361-cid, 265-hp V-8 engine, matched with a pushbutton TorqueFlight transmission. It is said to be museum quality and to have 21,000 original miles, also documented with build sheets, receipts and original Chrysler documentation. This model is also equipped with power brakes, steering and windows; factory air conditioning, dual exhaust and deluxe steering wheel, plus side mirrors.

This cars sleek aerodynamic exterior is displayed in factory data tag matching Nassau Green with chrome trim moldings, bumpers and fins that slope into taillights that resemble the exhaust of a jet, accented with wide whitewall tires. The pictures present the engine compartment in, what appears to be, very nice original condition. The then future-like interior is presented in code 334 gray with brocade fabric inserts and a 60/40 low back/high back front seat, and it is equipped with a radio and heater. This “space age” car is reported to ride and drive just as well as it looks.
