For 1940, America’s most popular car had new styling called “Royal Clipper,” with a front-opening “alligator” hood and a delicate grille and trim. The top-line Special Deluxe series featured stainless steel exterior trim and an upgraded interior with Deluxe steering wheel, dashboard clock and armrests in the doors.

This 1940 Chevrolet Special Deluxe four-door Sport Sedan has all those features and more: a radio, heater and stainless steel trim rings on the wheels. It received a partial restoration some years ago, including a new tan cloth interior and new black paint. The Deluxe steering wheel shows no cracks or blemishes. The engine compartment is clean and correctly detailed.

1940 Chevrolets are not often seen in the collector community. This is a particularly nice one.
