The McLaren 720S GT3X is the unrestricted variant of the firm’s championship-proven 720S GT3 racecar, a fierce, track-only expression that is free of regulatory constraints imposed by motorsports sanctioning bodies and delivers a truly unbridled driving experience. Born from the McLaren Customer Racing division, the GT3X is engineered to exploit the full potential of the 720S platform with performance that far surpasses its competition-spec sibling.

Its hand-built, 4.0-liter twin-turbocharged V-8 has been enhanced with blueprinted cylinder heads, reinforced pistons, diamond-like carbon surface treatments, and a lightweight titanium exhaust system. The result is a formidable 710 horsepower with an additional 30 horsepower available via the “push-to-pass” button on the steering wheel, propelling the car from 0 to 60 mph in under 3.0 seconds and onto a top speed of 210 mph.

Every element of the GT3X is engineered for weight reduction, with a minimalist cockpit featuring only the bare essentials for high-performance driving. Awash in exposed carbon fiber, it houses FIA-approved race seats composed of carbon fiber and Kevlar along with an adjustable pedal box and steering wheel for optimal ergonomics. But unlike its single-seat GT3 cousin, McLaren engineers reconfigured the roll cage and interior layout to offer an optional passenger seat, allowing a passenger to share in the car’s raw thrills.

Its fortunate occupants are cradled within McLaren’s MonoCage II carbon fiber monocoque, shared with both the 720S road car and GT3 racer. This advanced structure pairs incredible rigidity with featherlight construction, delivering both uncompromising occupant safety and an excellent foundation for the car’s high-downforce design. Aerodynamically, the GT3X is equipped with the full GT3 suite of enhancements, including front dive-planes, a pronounced splitter, a substantial rear wing, and a sculpted diffuser, all honed through computational fluid dynamics and Formula One-grade wind-tunnel testing.

The resulting design is an obvious reflection of McLaren’s racing heritage, with a body aggressively sculpted for optimal airflow yet elegantly restrained in its simplicity—every curve, vent, and wing serving a precise functional purpose.

Ordered new by the consignor, this superb 720S GT3X features over $55,000 in optional equipment, including a Bosch Crash Avoidance System, carbon clutch, tire pressure monitoring system, passenger seat, and VBOX Telemetry with Camera for a total MSRP of around $1 million. It is accompanied by copies of its original order and purchase documents.

The 720S GT3X represents McLaren’s most liberated, unrestricted expression of the 720S—a car free of regulations, compromises, or limits.
