Developed in a unique partnership between Mercedes-Benz, AMG, and McLaren Automotive, the SLR McLaren took the supercar world by storm upon its unveiling in 1999. Rather than pursue all-out performance, Mercedes-Benz and McLaren sought to create a car that could easily outperform its competition while also serving as a capable, comfortable, and luxurious high-speed grand tourer. Powered by an AMG-tuned, 5.4-liter supercharged V-8 engine, the SLR’s performance was eye-opening. Good for a reported 626 horsepower, the SLR could sprint to 60 mph in just 3.8 seconds on its way to a 206-mph top speed. Engineers turned up the excitement even further by introducing the SLR McLaren Roadster, ultimately producing just 670 open-top examples from 2006 through 2008.

This nicely specified, US-market example was sold new through Mercedes-Benz of Miami in March 2008. Cloaked in the model’s quintessential finish of Crystal Laurite Silver, it was optioned with Black Carbon Trim (H74), Red Brake Calipers (U70), and the coveted Silver Arrow 300SL Red Leather (L01) upholstery and carried a manufacturer suggested retail price of over $513,000 when new. The roadster saw very limited use prior to the consignor’s acquisition in 2013, accumulating less than 1,900 miles previously. Since then, the car has continued to benefit from a pampered life with regular maintenance and gentle use, adding less than 6,000 miles over the last decade. Accompanying the sale are owner’s manuals, service invoices dating to 2014, a car cover with bag, a convertible top bag, Mercedes-Benz SLR trickle charger, and a tool kit with air compressor.

Finished in a highly desirable color scheme and benefiting from a decade of care under the consignor’s watchful ownership, this SLR McLaren Roadster is beautifully presented, a stellar example of the impressive joint effort—likely never to be repeated—from three automotive titans that gave us one of the most iconic and well-rounded supercars of all time.
