The Cabriolet Atlas by Guilloré was first shown on a Delahaye 135 chassis at the Paris Salon in October 1949, where the 1950 models were presented. It is believed that no more than five Cabriolet Atlases were built, and that chassis no. 801636 may possibly have been the actual Paris show car.

The svelte Delahaye was first registered on 7 July 1950 and remained in France until it was discovered in the 1990s by Francois-Michel Faucher of the French Club Delahaye. Faucher performed a sensitive restoration of the chassis, engine, and major mechanical components, then sold 801636 to Delahaye club founder and honorary president Philippe Looten.

Looten had the car restored cosmetically by Delahaye specialist Jean-Luc Bonnefoy. In the ensuing years, 801636 was shown at Rétromobile in 2003 and driven to local events and Club Delahaye rallies. Hugo Modderman of Monaco purchased the car in 2010. It was then repainted in the exact original shade of blue it wore in 1949, and the original interior was freshened while being allowed to retain its lovely patina. In its original livery, the car was then shown at the 2011 Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance. It also participated in the Pebble Beach Motoring Classic, a challenging 1,500-mile rally from Seattle to Monterey. In 2012, the engine and mechanicals were attended to once again.

The Cabriolet Atlas is a finely proportioned luxury car with sporting pretensions. It is a grand routiére in the classic manner that looks the part with its conservative long hood in the 1939 idiom and a beautifully rounded trunk combined with daring chrome fender accents that accentuate the length of the smooth and elegant fenders. This stylish and rare Delahaye will make a stunning addition to any high-level collection.
