Chevrolet introduced the Chevelle for the 1964 model year. By 1968, Chevrolet had moved onto the second generation of the Chevelle, featuring a sportier fastback design. For the 1969 model year Chevelles were advertised as, “America’s most popular mid-size car.” The 1969s featured a restyled front end. Second generation Chevelles were produced through 1972.

This 1969 Chevrolet Chevelle SS 396 had a body-on restoration completed in 2016. The car is presented in green with white racing stripes and a new white top. The owner describes the paint as show quality. The Chevelle is powered by a 396-cid, 350-hp V-8 engine which is paired to a four-speed manual transmission. The engine block is reported as original and according to one source, there were 12,454 Chevelles built in 1969 with the 396-cid V-8 and manual transmission. The power is sent to a 12-bolt rear with 4.10:1 gears. Power options on the car include a power top, steering and brakes. The interior is completed in black with bucket seats and new carpet, door panels and weather strips. Additional interior features include gauge package with tachometer, console and AM/FM radio.
